Goldenwolf (also known as Goldie) is a mostly self-taught artist who loves all things wild and natural. From the time she was old enough to hold a crayon, Goldie has been drawing, amazing her teachers and peers alike with her natural talents. Never formally trained outside of grade school, Goldie has learned her skills from what little she was taught in school and from her artistic peers and influences.
Since she was a young girl, Goldie's parents have been taking her on camping trips both long and short and have instilled within her a love and harmony with nature and especially the animal world. Animals have always been a part of Goldie's life, her family owning many cats, dogs, mice, hamsters, ducks, snakes, lizards, chickens, and even a raccoon. Animals have always fascinated Goldie, and she has always found a kinship with them.
Goldie specializes in what she likes to call "Anthropomorphic Wildlife" (anthropomorphic of course meaning something that is not human with human-like qualities), a blend of animal with human anatomy and culture, yet keeping close to the original traits of the animal. This style makes up the body of her work, however Goldie is very much into nature spirituality and does spiritual animal pieces as well that reflect her own reverence and awe of the natural world and the animal kingdom. A long-time fan of werewolves from horror movies, Goldie also loves to illustrate werewolves and shapeshifters. It can be hard to distinguish one of her Anthropomorphs from her Shapeshifters, though she insists there is a difference "Mainly in the additude." she says.
Aside from branching out more into other genres of fantasy and spiritual artwork, Goldie is currently working on a trilogy of werewolf horror/romance novels. This is a new avenue for her, but one that only makes sense. Even before she began to draw Goldie was writing fantasy stories of adventure, horror, love, and the depths of the human spirit. English was always a close second to art in school, and she aced her classes with ease. She is hoping to have her first novel, "Hunger", to be published by 2007.
A love of animals and nature, and a desire to bring to life creatures that have never existed are Goldie's passions. It is her goal to be able to make a living off of her art and writing so that she may be able to one day live amongst the wilderness as she has always dreamed |
